We at Walker 911 are asking, with the upcoming weather event that you only dial 911 in an emergency. People tend to call 911 and ask questions about shelter locations, weather conditions, business, road and school closures. For local weather, roads, or other important information you can follow Walker County 911, Walker County EMA’s, Walker County Commission, or your local city social media pages. PLEASE be aware that Walker County 911 does not have a full-time media person, so, if we get busy Facebook information will lag. If you need road closures: State Highways and Interstates go to ALGO Traffic, the app can be found for both Android and Apple devices. Local streets and roads go to your city’s Facebook page or website for information, as for county roads Walker County EMA, Walker County Commission. When we receive information from the State, County or City governmental agency we will post it to our Facebook page.
Road/Bridge Closures:
The closing of Interstates, Highways, City Streets and County Roads can only be closed by the following:
Interstates and State Highways can only be done by ALEA (Troopers) in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
County roads the Walker County Engineers office and the Walker County Commission.
City streets by the appropriate city street department or city government.
We CAN NOT and WILL NOT give travel advice, or what you should do about your work. That is a personal decision that is to be made by you and your employer.

It is the goal of Walker County 9-1-1 to provide the citizens of Walker County, Alabama with a quick and efficient method of accessing emergency services using 9-1-1. To obtain this we will use trained professionals and state of art communications equipment.
